Dear Brothers and Sisters,
My name is Jeffrey Purcell. I am 11 years old. I love board games and I like to play outside. My family was asked to speak on families. I chose to speak on how I can prepare to become a father one day.
In the Family: A Proclamation To The World, it says the following:
By divine design, fathers are to preside over their families in love and righteousness, and are responsible to provide the necessities of life and protection for their families.
These are the three Ps:
First, I want talk about how I can learn to preside as a father in my family.
I can bring brothers and sisters to family gathers, such as family prayer, scripture study, and family home evenings with a big smile. I can try to follow Jesus' example and love my family.
In a year I will have the Aaronic Priesthood. I can learn to serve others by passing the sacrament, home teaching, and other priesthood duties.
Next, I want to talk about how I can learn to provide for my family one day.
I can get a good education. I can learn important skills through boy scouts. I can learn how to work hard. I can keep myself healthy and physically strong.
Last, I can learn how to protect my family. As a family, we've had a garden and planted vegetables. I gave our garden water. The garden got sunshine and we kept bugs away. We gave our garden protection so that it could grow.
Fathers are also supposed to help mothers with their responsibilities too. Fathers and mothers can work together to become one.
In the same way, I can give my family protection so that everyone can grow and be happy.
I want to bear my testimony that I can be a father one day and that I can help my wife and children. I know the priesthood can help me to be a good father. I know that we can be an eternal family with God's help. In the name of Jesus Christ, amen.
