I had the opportunity to speak in church today along with my wife and my three oldest children. I'm proud of my kids and wife; they did a great job. I felt blessed in my preparations for my talk, and wanted to share a few of the great quotes that I found while preparing my talk.
The message of my talk was that when we do our best to keep God's commandments and be committed to him, the Lord will bless us, but sometimes in unexpected ways.
God Can Make More Out of Our Lives than We Can
Yes, men and women who turn their lives over to God will find out that he can make a lot more out of their lives than they can. He will deepen their joys, expand their vision, quicken their minds, strengthen their muscles, lift their spirits, multiply their blessings, increase their opportunities, comfort their souls, raise up friends, and pour out peace.

Spiritual Vision Improves when Following the Lord
When we choose to believe, exercise faith unto repentance, and follow our Savior, Jesus Christ, we open our spiritual eyes to splendors we can scarcely imagine. Thus our belief and faith will grow stronger, and we will see even more.

Story of Daniel
Daniel had many opportunities to let his faith muscles go flabby as a captive in Babylon, but chose to be ever faithful to the Lord, even in those difficult circumstances when it would have been so easy to "go with the flow." By keeping a strong connection to God and his true beliefs, God revealed to him King Nebuchadnezzar's dream and its interpretation (which has application to our day and time)
The Gospel Requires Commitment
For the winds of tribulation, which blow out some men’s candles of commitment, only fan the fires of faith of these special men.

Trust In God's Power
But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
Therefore, let your hearts be comforted concerning Zion; for all flesh is in mine hands; be still and know that I am God.
In preparing for this talk, I was reminded again that God lives and is my heavenly Father. He's involved in the details of our lives, and knows us better than we know ourselves. He loves us enough to plan and execute a way for us to become like him. Jesus Christ lives and is central to that plan. Jesus is our biggest advocate and champion in this regard, and is the only way we can be redeemed. I also know that the gospel has been restored in its fullness in our day, and am grateful to live at a time with prophets and apostles and priesthood authority on the earth again.
